So what is a universal remote?

A universal remote is either a remote that is compatible with a number of different devices OR with various brands of one or more types of the one device. For example, there are universal remotes that are a single unit that can control items such as the TV, DVD, video and the like and there are universal remotes that can control hundreds of different brands and models of the same device.

There are a lot of universal remotes out there and sometimes the biggest problem is finding the best or the most appropriate one for your needs.

The first thing to take in account when buying a remote is what features does it have. For example, is it a remote that is branded as being compatible with other brands or is it a unit that can control different items. If it is an air conditioner universal remote you are after, then it’s the number of brands that it is compatible with that is important. It would be safer to find a remote that is compatible with as many different brands and models as possible.

The next thing to consider is if your specific brand / type is compatible with the specific remote. Both our air conditioning remotes are compatible with most brands in the world including the more common brands in Australia such as Daikin, LG, Fujitsu, Mitsubishi, Panasonic, Samsung and Sharp.
